Mumbai does not sit still long enough to be easily understood. It is a city of perpetual reinvention, where a fishermen's village sits in the shadow of a film studio, and where some of the world's most vibrant storytelling emerges from its most overlooked corners. This program uses the performing arts as a way in, giving students the tools of drama, scriptwriting, and performance to engage with a city that has always known how to put on a show.
Day 1
Arrive in Mumbai and meet your program leaders at the airport. After checking in and settling in, the evening begins with a welcome dinner introducing the flavours of India, followed by a Bollywood film screening, a fitting and lively first encounter with one of the world's most prolific film industries.

Day 2
The morning opens with a drama workshop led by professional instructors covering movement, stage presence, and the fundamentals of performance. After lunch, the group visits a working Bollywood film set for a first-hand look at how India's most iconic films come to life. Students do not just observe; they join in with singing and dancing, experiencing the energy of Bollywood from the inside. The day ends with a group dinner and an informal reflection on everything encountered.
Day 3
A creative storytelling workshop in the morning invites students to explore themes of personal identity through scriptwriting, guided by facilitators who help them begin shaping their own narratives. The afternoon moves into Dharavi, Asia's largest informal settlement and a hub of thriving small-scale industries worth millions of dollars. Far from what many expect, it is a place of ingenuity, community, and stories worth telling. The evening offers an optional group sharing circle around the question: what stories did we encounter today?
Day 4
A guided walk through Mumbai's cultural landmarks traces the diverse influences that have layered themselves into the city over centuries. The afternoon brings a visit to a colourful fishermen's village, followed by a nearby fort with sweeping views of the coastline. Students watch the sunset from the fort and close the day with group journaling on the theme: what stories matter to me?
Day 5
The final morning belongs to the students. A showcase gives participants the chance to present the film clips, dance routines, monologues, and creative works developed across the program. A group reflection follows, asking what they have learned about India and about themselves. The program closes with a farewell dinner and the kind of memories that tend to stay.
