Bali: A Firsthand Look at Sustainability in Action
Our Impact Journey program in Bali showed students that meaningful learning can happen in the places they'd least expect it.
Alongside a local NGO, students kayaked through Sanur's mangrove forest to collect real biodiversity samples. Then they headed to the beach to measure coastal erosion and see firsthand what tourism has done to the shoreline, understanding how tightly conservation and tourism are connected.
From there, students trekked through the Batur UNESCO Global Geopark to see how communities live alongside an active volcano. They also joined a coral restoration project and spent an afternoon fruit-picking with local farmers.
By the end, they came away with a sharper sense of how communities live sustainably and a deeper respect for the traditions that shape everyday life in Bali.
